An excellent alternative to pressure-sensitive envelope closures is the compostable double-sided adhesive tape, a product that is practical and convenient in its application, but particularly all innovative and revolutionary in terms of environmental sustainability.
We explain why.
The classic double-sided tape used in the packaging industry allows the reversible or permanent closure of envelopes. The adhesive part consists of a plastic backing tape, whose adhesive capacity is made possible by a compound that is usually chemical and based on synthetic glues. In order to be able to dispose of the components of this type of packaging, it is necessary to separate the adhesive tape from the envelope, with the consequent disadvantages in terms of ease of disposal.
The permanent removable compostable biadhesive, for which Carte Dozio filed a utility patent last October, is coated on a transparent compostable and biodegradable PLA film with an adhesive that is in turn certified compostable according to EN 13432.
This feature allows the finished product to be disposed of entirely compostable, without the need to separate the bag from the tape.
Here, then, are four reasons to choose compostable double-sided tape:
- permanent removable 6/12 mm x 5000 metres, indispensable for the compostability certification of the finished product
- excellent runnability in fully automatic pouch packaging lines at high speeds
- excellent seal on mater B and PLA compostable films
- easy application
The compostable double-sided tape can be easily used in-line on all pouch production machines, it behaves like a normal double-sided tape, is cut and heat sealed. Used via a dispenser that can be supplied separately on request.
